The Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of Azerbaijan has reported the mass death of Caspian seals off the Azeri coast.

An investigation into the cause of the seal deaths is underway and the results are expected to come out in two weeks.

A similar incident happened in the Caspian Sea in 2001 and 2002; subsequent investigations revealed that bubonic plague was to blame.
