Amir-Abdollahian, Hammond survey bilateral, regional issues

London, Oct 21, IRNA Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian and British Foreign Secretary in a meeting here on Wednesday surveyed bilateral ties and regional developments, such as those in Syria and Yemen without any reservations.

The Iranian deputy foreign minister for Arab and African affairs after the meeting which was held behind closed doors in the British Foreign Office said in a press conference that Hammond invited his Iranian counterpart for a visit to London to pursue their previous talks on mutual interests.
'The issues mainly addressed during the relatively long bilateral talks included the prevailing situation in Syria, Yemen and Bahrain, focusing on seeking political and diplomatic ways to end the crises in those countries as both sides' common interests,' he said.
Amir-Abdollahian said that Tehran and London have different ideas on the mechanism and strategies for ending the regional crises in the Middle East.
'As I told the British foreign secretary, if the British will try to properly comprehend the realities on the ground in the Middle East, then we can more easily achieve security and stability in the region,' he added.
The Iranian deputy FM also said that prior to the British foreign secretary he met with the Conservative British MP in British House of Commons' Foreign Relations Commission Tobias Ellwood.
'We discussed facilitation of visa issuance for the two countries' citizens and resolving some remaining difficulties despite the reopening of the two countries' embassies late last summer.
Amir-Abdollahian is in London on an official invitation of the British Foreign Office for a two-day visit.
