New York, July 20, IRNA Iran's Ambassador to the UN Gholam Ali Khoshrou underlined the need for adopting regional programs for access of all countries to the objectives of the sustainable development.
Khoshrou made the remarks addressing Second Committee of the UN General Assembly on the priorities of Iran concerning the sustainable development.
The Iranian ambassador pointed to the importance of the agenda document of Development 2030, and mentioned some measures taken in Iran, including increasing the public awareness of the society and focusing on the basic issues related to that in educational curriculum, revival of marshlands and the new policies on dam construction and revival of lakes.
Khoshrou also pointed to the challenges facing Iran such as drought, water shortage, air pollution, land degradation, deforestation and natural disasters, including earthquakes, and underlined the importance of international cooperation for confronting these problems.
