Another hit against ISIL: 'Support Assad' T-shirts on sale in Moscow

T-shirts depicting Russian air strikes on Islamic State targets are currently on sale in Moscow, according to media reports.

Moscow has impressed the world bystepping into back Syrian President Bashar Assad's effort todestroy the Islamic State and put an end toits efforts tocreate a fundamentalist caliphate that practices slavery and ethnic cleansing. Now visitors tothe Russian capital can dress toshow their solidarity: "Support Assad" T-shirts are currently available ata military clothes shop incentral Moscow, Russian businessman Ilya Varlamov said onhis Facebook page onMonday.

"A week afterthe beginning of [the Russian] military operation inSyria, the country's Ministry ofDefense released a new clothing line. There are T-shirts depicting [Russian] airstrikes againstpositions ofIslamic State militants aswell ascalls tosupport President Assad," Varlamov said.

Specifically, such T-shirts are onsale atthe Army ofRussia shop onTverskaya Street inthe heart ofMoscow, according toVarlamov.

Moscows move totake inCrimea followingthe 2014 Ukrainian coup was hugely popular withthe people ofRussia, prompting the appearance ofa spate ofT-shirts featuring the image ofRussian President Vladimir Putin and slogans such as "Crimea", "the Most Polite Person" and "They Won't Catch Us", which went onsale inthe country.

At the time, the Russian President's press secretary Dmitry Peskov said that Putin hadnt officially endorsed the commercialization of his image. However, the T-shirts were a smash hit; theyre now even available in vending machines.

On September 30, more thanfifty Russian aircraft, including Su-24M, Su-25 and Su-34 warplanes, commenced precision airstrikes onIslamic State targets inSyria atthe behest ofSyrian President Bashar Assad.

Earlier that day, the Russian upper house ofparliament had unanimously supported the request ofPresident Putin todeploy units ofthe Russian Aerospace Forces abroad.

Syrian Ambassador toRussia Riad Haddad said, forhis part, that Syrian Army strikes, supported bythe Russian Aerospace Forces, were carried outagainst armed terrorist organizations, not political opposition factions or civilians.
