Most Iranians injured in Mina incident in good condition: IRCS chief

Tehran, Sept 29, IRNA Secretary General of Iranian Red Crescent Society Amir-Mohsen Ziaei said Tuesday that most Iranians injured at the deadly stampede during the annual Hajj in Saudi Arabia are in good health condition.

Ziaei, who has travelled to Saudi Arabia along with the minister of health, said that during a meeting in Mecca with Supreme Leader's representative to Hajj affairs, the need for immediate transfer of Iranian victims to Iran was urged.

Noting that IRCS hospital in Mecca is rendering very good services to the injured pilgrims, Ziaei said that only two of the injured Iranian pilgrims hospitalized in Mecca are in critical condition.

He regretted that it has become less possible to find alive the Iranian pilgrims missing in the incident.

Ziaei also said that all the hospitals had been thoroughly searched and it seemed that the number of missing pilgrims will not change.

The Hajj stampede in Mina on Thursday killed nearly 2,000 pilgrims.

So far, 239 Iranian pilgrims have been confirmed dead with 14 others wounded.

Some 241 Iranian pilgrims are still missing.
