New York, Sept 28, IRNA - President Hassan Rouhani said Japan is a strategic partner of Iran and diplomatic, economic and cultural relations between the two countries shall further increase.
He made the remarks during a meeting here on Sunday with Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe during which they exchanged views on enhancement of bilateral cooperation.
'The nuclear deal is an opportunity for strengthening of bilateral relations,' he added, 'We can cooperate in transport, envirronment, cultural and scientific issues and modern science including in the field of peaceful nuclear energy.'
'Scientific and Techincal centers in Iran and Japan must be in contact and increase their ties,' he said.
He also warned on expansion of terrorism in the region and said, 'To eradicte terrorism, there should be a movement toward upgrading of development and welfare in the region so that terrorist groups can not easily expand their activities by taking advantage of the poverty in societies.'
The Japanese prime minister stressed concentration of measures on exact implementatin of nulcear Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) and said Tokyo is interested in the execution of its content.
'Tokyo wants to be active in supporting the development of Iran's economy,' he said.
He said his government also supports exchanges between private sectors in Iran and Japan and enforcement of trade agreements.
Prime Minister Abe condoled President Rouhani on the death of tens of Iranian pilgrims during last week's stampede tragedy in Saudi Arabia.
