Expansion of ties with Brazil, Iran's top priority: Shamkhani

Tehran, Sept 13, IRNA Secretary of the Supreme National Security Council Ali Shamkhani said Sunday that Iran's top priority is enhancement of relations with countries, like Brazil which did not cooperate with the West during imposition of sanctions on Tehran.
Shamkhani made the remarks during a meeting in Tehran with visiting Brazilian Foreign Minister Mauro Luiz Iecker Vieira.

Referring to Iran's nuclear deal with the world powers, Shamkhani said that Iran's nuclear negotiations is an example for all the countries to replace encountering and violence with political approaches.

Underlining the need to restore peace and stability to Syria, Iraq and Yemen, Shamkhani regretted that the UN Security Council is under the pressure of big powers and adopts double standards towards defending global peace and security.

Shamkhani also hailed Brazil's independent position in the United Nations and its positive role in Iran's nuclear program, saying the ground is prepared for expansion of relations between Tehran and Brasilia.

Meanwhile, the Brazilian foreign minister hailed Iran's 'constructive and praiseworthy' approach to the nuclear negotiations.

Vieira said that in the new atmosphere, Iran and Brazil can give a boost to economic, technical and industrial relations.

Referring to the presence of four million Syrian nationals in Brazil, Vieira said that military action will further exacerbate the situation in Syria and that political solution is the only way out of the crisis in the country.
