TEHRAN (ISNA)- The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) would meet on September 13 in Jeddah to discuss Syrian refugees� situation, said an Iranian Foreign Ministry official.

�The OIC conference will be held in Jeddah on September 13 to investigate displaced Syrians,� said Head of Middle Eastern Department of Iranian Foreign Ministry Hamid-Reza Dehghani.

He also slammed Islamic states which refused to take refuge to displaced Syrians, adding that �They have failed to do well about this issue.�

He said that some OIC members close to Syria geographically should have dealt better with the displaced Syrians and therefore, they had not been made to pass long borders to reach a safe place.

�The displaced people are seeking a secure place and the number of secure places in the Middle East is decreasing.�

He further reiterated that the OIC can play an important role in defending displaced Syrians and immigrants.
