Iran's state-owned Press TV isn't exactly a fan of Canadaor "Zionist Stephen Harper" judging by some of their recent reports detailed in an expose from the National Post.A segment uploaded to YouTube on Dec. 21 titled "Canada covers up aboriginal killings" alleges several human rights abuses. The anchor also hosts Alfred Webre, identified as an international lawyer, who explains why, in his opinion, Canada accuses Iran of abuses while ignoring its own.
"The Canadian prime minister is virtually a dictator, and Prime Minister Stephen Harper is an out-and-out Zionist and that is why Canada has become a client state of Israel, he said, speaking from Vancouver. "Canada under the Zionist Stephen Harper is now following the same repressive policies within Canada that Israel follows within its own territories against the Palestinian peoples."
He says Vancouver police and the Hells Angels gang brought politicians to Robert Pickton's farm "to have satanic rituals with the aboriginal women and then killing them on film for snuff films." He also references Queen Elizabeth's 1964 visit in which she "and her concert came and took 10 aboriginal children from the aboriginal school in Kamloops B.C. and they were never seen again."
Other videos focus on Idle No More and the response from First Nations peoples to the Conservative government's omnibus budget Bill C-45. The station alsofeatures Calgary correspondent Joshua Blakeney, the Post points out, a 9-11 Truther whoreceived money from the Alberta government to explore Sept. 11 conspiracy theories. He has also publisheda post titled "Israels Fingerprints Are All Over 9/11"for Veterans Today, which has come under fire for publishing anti-Semitic views.
Press TV previously garnered attention in October whentwo former First Nations chiefs appeared as guests and criticized the Canadian government's treatment of aboriginals. One, Terry Nelson, went so far as to compare reservations to concentration camps while the other, Dennis Pashe, described what he sees as the government's "ongoing effort" to exterminate First Nations peoples. The report followed Canada's move tosever ties with Iran in September, closing its embassy in Tehran and forcing Iranian diplomats to leave Canada.
In a statement, Foreign Affairs Minister John Baird citedseveral reasons for the move, including "blatant disregard for the Vienna Convention," not complying with UN resolutions regarding its nuclear program and threatening Israel's existence.
