U.S. Democratic Senators Reed and Whitehouse back Iran deal

Tehran, Aug 20, IRNA - US Democratic Senators Jack Reed and Sheldon Whitehouse said they both backed the US-led international nuclear deal with Iran rising the number of Iran nuclear deal supporters in the US Congress to 22.

The two Rhode Island senators said in a statement the US Congress would be making a strategic mistake if it derailed the agreement, Western media reported on Wednesday.
The Senate and House of Representatives have to vote by September 17 on whether to accept the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action signed July 14 between Iran and the P5+1 group of world powers the US, Britain, France, Germany, Russia and China.

If Congress votes to reject the deal, the administration would have 12 days to veto the resolution of disapproval. Congress would then have 10 extra days to try to override the veto.
