US ex-diplomat: American opponents of nuclear deal are illussioned

New York, Aug 19, IRNA Veteran US diplomat Thomas Pickering said those seek to impose even more sanctions on Iran are blind to realities and live in a kind of world of illusions.

Talking to IRNA here, the former US ambassador to the United Nations stressed that nuclear agreement guaranteed interests of all sides involved.
Given the upcoming summer holiday time of the US Congress, he said it was too soon to have any predictions about senators final decision about the nuclear deal.
President Barack Obama will undoubtedly veto any bills against the nuclear deal, so his opponents need more help from democrats which is very difficult for them to gain, the dipmoat added.
As such, opponents of the nuclear deal have very little chance for success, he said.
He referred to quite adverse political, economic and security outcomes of the rejection of the Comprehensive Joint Plan of Action (CJPOA) and said since five other countries in addition to the US have also signed the nuclear document they will not help restore sanctions even if the US Congress manages to reject it.
