Tehran, Belgrade determined to boost economic ties

Belgrade, August 12, IRNA Iranian ambassador to Serbia held talks with Serbian deputy prime minister on resolve of the two governments to broadly expand economic relations, calling for practical steps to be taken by the two governments.

Ambassador Majid Fahimpour and Deputy Prime Minister Racim Liaic, who is also the trade, tourism and telecom minister agreed that in the atmosphere emerged after the signing of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) between Iran and six world powers, the conditions are quite ripe for boosting economic cooperation.
Fahimpour said that in order to survey the bilateral ties and exchange opinion with Serbian officials, representatives from the Iranian agriculture, industries, mines, sports and youth and trade ministries as well as experts from tourism organization, Central Bank and private sector activists will be visiting Serbia for September 16 to 19, 2015.
Iran-Serbia Joint Economic Commission is scheduled to be held in Tehran towards the end of the year 2015 and several cooperation agreements in various fields are expected to be signed in it.
Racim Liaic who is the only Muslim minister in the Serbian cabinet is elected as the Serbian head of that joint commission.
He visited Tehran in mid-spring of 2015 and met with high ranking Iranian officials.
On August 9, 2015, the Serbian First Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ivictia Dacic visited Iran at the top of a Serbian high ranking delegation in a three-day official visit, during which he met the Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif, President Hassan Rouhani, and Advisor to the Supreme Leader for International Affairs Ali-Akbar Velayati.
