Iran, Spain to launch direct flight: Spanish envoy

KHORRAMABAD (Tasnim) Spain's Ambassador to Iran Pedro Antonio Villena announced that Tehran and Madrid have plans to establish direct flights between the two countries.

In a Saturday meeting with Supreme Leader's representative in Lorestan province, west of Iran, Villena said, "We have plans to establish direct flights from Iran to Spain."

The plan comes as earlier in July, Aegean Airlines SA, the largest Greek airline, launched direct flights between Tehran and Athens.

After Iran and the Group 5+1 (Russia, China, US, Britain, France, and Germany) successfully concluded their nuclear talks and finalized the text of a comprehensive nuclear deal in Vienna on July 14, several European countries including Spain have indicated their increasing interest in restoring and reinforcing their ties with the Islamic Republic.

Villena had earlier announced that three Spanish ministers accompanied by a high-ranking delegation are scheduled to visit Iran in the near future.

Those who have a negative view of Iran should come and see it is not the way they think, he said in the Saturday meeting.

Whenever Spanish people travel to Iran, their opinion about the country totally changes and they start to advertise the country in Spain, he added.

The comprehensive nuclear deal between Iran and the six powers would terminate all nuclear-related sanctions imposed on Iran after coming into force.

Experts believe that Iran's economic growth would rise remarkably after the final nuclear deal takes effect.
