Sunni Kurds gain maximum management posts in Kurdistan

Sanandaj, July 30, IRNA Over 90% of managerial posts in governorates and headquarters in Kurdistan province are allocated to Sunni Kurds since coming to power of President Rouhani who has thus proved it is keeping his promises in ending discrimination in that respect.

President Hassan Rouhani had in two paragraphs of his presidential campaign leaflet on Iranian tribes and religious minorities promised those groups that if he would be elected they will be used in management posts in the country, and especially in their provinces.

'Public participation of the Iranians, free from language and religion concerns in top management positions of the country will be observed in a way that the entire Iranian fellow citizens will be benefitted from equal conditions up to cabinet minister level,' reads the 2nd paragraph of that presidential election campaign pamphlet.

Also, in its 3rd paragraph on using the capabilities of competent local personnel in management positions of various Iranian provinces, supporting granting of management responsibilities in country's executive affairs and observing that rule in government's general policies is promised.

Now, two years on, the government has fully kept its promises in that respect in Kurdistan province as after completion of the new government's provincial management arrangements more than 90% of such posts are allocated to Sunni Kurds, which is totally unprecedented throughout the Islamic Republic ear Iran, and even before during the imperial system.

According to the 2010 national consensus of the Iranian Statistics Organization, Iran's Kurdistan province had a population of 1,439,645 people, 66% of whom lived in cities and 34% in villages.

More than 80% of the provincial population is Sunni Kurds who have in various national elections showed very high participation, such as the last presidential election in which 72% of them voted for Dr. Rouhani, which is 21% more than the average national vote for him.

After coming to power of the Prudence and Hope Government the governors of six Kurdish townships of Baneh, Marivan, Sarvabad, Kamyaran, Divandarreh and Dehgolan were appointed from among the Sunni Kurds and Shi'a Kurdish governors were chosen for four townships of Qarveh, Bijar, Sanandaj, and Seqqez.

The same percentages are observed in all lower management ranks from 4 deputy governor generals of the province, two of whom are Kurdish Sunnis and two Kurdish Shi'as to the Kurdistan province economic and regional deputy of the Management and Planning Organization, which was dissolved by the former president and reestablished by President Rouhani's cabinet and is a Kurdish Sunni.
