Mogherini in Tehran

Tehran, July 28, IRNA - European Union (EU) Foreign Policy Chief Federica Mogherini arrived in Tehran on Tuesday.

Several high ranking European officials including the European Union deputy foreign policy chief Helga Schmidt is accompanying Mogherini during the visit.

While in Iran, Mogherini is expected to hold talks in Tehran with Iranian Foreign minister Mohammad Javad Zarif and Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani on the ways of fostering Tehran and EU relations.

She paida visit to Saudi Arabia on Monday.

Mogherinis visit to the Iranian capital comes after the EU played a leading role in years of Iran's negotiations with the P5+1 group -- Britain, China, France, Russia, the US and Germany.

She has welcomed the nuclear conclusion in Vienna as a 'sign of hope for the entire world,' and European diplomatic sources were cited in local press reports as saying, 'she believes it's a good deal and should be welcomed.'

On July 14, Iran and the P5+1 countries finalized the text of an agreement, dubbed the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), in the Austrian capital city of Vienna.
