Majority Americans favor Iran nuclear deal, doubt outcome - poll

Almost 60 percent of Americans back the Iran nuclear agreement, but remains skeptical whether it will deliver the desired results for which it was reached, according to a new ABC News/Washington Post poll released on Monday.



WASHINGTON (Sputnik) The poll found that only 35 percent ofAmericans are confident the nuclear agreement will prevent Iran fromacquiring a nuclear weapon.
Americans bya broad 19-point margin [56 to37 percent] support the nuclear deal withIran announced last week, even astwo-thirds express skepticism itll work, the poll results said.


Earlier onMonday, the UN Security Council unanimously adopted a resolution concerning the nuclear deal betweenIran and the P5+1 group ofcountries comprising ofthe United States, Russia, China, France and the United States plus Germany.

President Barack Obama said the UN Security Councils unanimous approval ofthe resolution shows the nuclear agreement is the best way toprevent Tehran fromacquiring a nuclear weapon.
