Tehran, June 23, IRNA � Government spokesman Mohammad Baqer Nobakht said on Tuesday that the newly-approved motion of the Iranian parliament (Majlis) about outcomes of the ongoing nuclear talks stands against the Iranian Constitution.

Spkeaing at his weekly press briefing, Nobakht said the motion to oblige the government to safeguard nuclear achievements is against Article 176 of the Iranian Constitution which sets responsibilities of the Supreme National Security Council (SNSC).

'According to the Article 176,' Nobakht said, 'the issue of nuclear negotiations is to be decided by the SNSC, not by the Administrative or by the Legistative bodies of the government.'

Stressing that issues related to nuclear negotiations are constantly monitored by the SNSC, the spokesman said, that is why the government opposed the motion.

However, the spokesman appreciated efforts of the parliament representatives who tried to voice support to the nuclear negotiators and reinforce the status of the Iran�s representatives before the world six powers (US, UK, France, Russia and China plus Germany).

He said the government will certainly report to the parliament about the nuclear negotiations.

The Iranian lawmakers on Tuesday ratified a legislation obliging the government to maintain nuclear rights and achievements of the Iranian nation.

The motion was adopted by the parliament with 213 votes in favor, 10 against and six abstentions from a total of 244 representatives who took part in the voting.

The legislation obliges Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif to report the process of implementation of a possible final deal to the Iranian lawmakers every six months.

It also says that the SNSC should provide a report to Majlis every six months about the proper implementation of a possible final deal.

The motion further stresses that the regulations set by the SNSC have to be fully observed and that the outcome of the nuclear talks should be reported to the Majlis based on Article 77 and Article 125 of the Constitution.
