TEHRAN (Tasnim) Vice-Speaker of Iran's Parliament Mohammad Hassan Aboutorabi-Fard hailed Yemen's popular movement as a symbol of Yemeni people's confrontation with hegemonic powers.
"The movement of the combatant people of Yemen explains their clear objectives in confrontation with the hegemonic system led by the US, Zionist regime (of Israel), and American hirelings," Aboutorabi-Fard said.
He made the remarks in a Sunday meeting between a number of Iranian lawmakers and a group of Yemeni revolutionaries here in Tehran.
Aboutorabi-Fard further reaffirmed that Iran, along with all Islamic countries including Iraq, Lebanon, Bahrain, Syria, and the entire Muslim world will stand firm beside the people of Yemen.
The Iranian vice-speaker further called for enhanced unity among the people of Yemen in light of efforts made by revolutions leaders, and expressed the hope for the immediate victory of Yemenis.
On March 26, Saudi Arabia and some of its Arab allies began to launch air strikes against the Houthi Ansarullah movement in an attempt to restore power to the fugitive former President Abd Rabbuh Mansour Hadi, a close ally of Riyadh.
According to Yemen's Freedom House Foundation, the Saudi airstrikes have claimed the lives of nearly 4,000 Yemeni people so far while more than 7,000 others have been wounded, most of them civilians.
