DUBLIN, Jun. 17 (MNA) Heading a high-ranking delegation, Irans Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani arrived Dublin on Monday and met with Irish authorities.
During the meeting with the Chairman of Irish Senate Paddy Burke, Larijani stressed the need for closer cooperation between Tehran and Dublin and expressed hope that expansion of parliamentary ties would lead to the utilization of all existing capacities in both countries.
Larijani also met a number of Iranian university professors, doctors, business people and students residing in Ireland.
The meeting focused on professor and student exchange between the two countries, using capacities and experiences of advanced companies in Ireland in the field of technology and medicine, as well as mutual investment.
The Iranian diplomat also paid a visit to the Chester Beatty Library in Dublin which houses collections of manuscripts, miniature paintings, prints, drawings, rare books and some decorative arts from the Islamic, East Asian and Western Collections.
The Library is one of the premier sources for scholarship in both the Old and New Testaments and is home to one of the most significant collections of Islamic and Far Eastern artifacts.
The director of the library Fionnuala Croke expressed her pleasure over the visit of Iranian delegation to Ireland. She noted that the Chester Beatty Library houses 270 exquisite Quran manuscripts, and 250 historical texts related to Islamic culture and civilizations in Persian, Turkish and Arabic.
Ali Larijani also attended a trilateral press conference with heads of Irish Parliament and Senate, and discussed the latest regional developments, Irans nuclear negotiations and Tehran-Dublin relations.
Larijanis visit came at the invitation of the Parliament Speaker of Ireland Sen Barrett.
