Tehran, June 10, IRNA � Head of Iran Chamber of Commerce, Industries and Mines (ICCIM), Gholam-Hossein Shafeie, said on Wednesday that Iran can serve as a link between Luxembourg and the Persian Gulf, Central Asian and the Caucasus, as Luxembourg can connect Iran with the European Union.

�Luxembourg is a small but a developed country, capable of serving as a bridge, linking Iran with the European Union states; additionally, regarding the strategic situation of Iran in the region, our country can serve as a link between Luxembourg and the Persian Gulf, Central Asian and the Caucasus states,� Shafeie told Jeannot Erpelding, Director of the International Affairs Department at the Luxembourg Chamber of Commerce, in a meeting in Tehran on Wednesday.

Shafeie lauded the �outstanding� role of Iran and Luxembourg chambers of commerce in expansion of economic relations between Tehran and Luxembourg. He proposed that the two chambers arrange exchange of commercial delegates, hold seminars and commercial sessions for acquaintance of their traders with each other�s facilities and business opportunities.

Shafeie said Iran and Luxembourg can have bilateral, trilateral and multilateral cooperation with regards to their exemplary commercial condition.

He said due to its favorable banking system and financial services, Luxembourg can play an important role in expansion of the two-way economic cooperation.

The ICCIM Chairman said the small- and medium-sized companies play an undeniable role in expansion of commercial relations and regarding the country�s development programs, foreign investors can win a great share in Iran�s huge economy.

Elsewhere in his remarks, he pointed to positive outcome of Iran-G5+1 talks and Iranian government�s approach towards promotion of economic relations with other countries and said, �We foresee a brilliant future for engagement with European countries.�

Erpelding said in turn that a miniature commercial delegate from Luxembourg is visiting Iran to get firsthand account of business opportunities in Iran.

He suggested cooperation in the fields of banking, steel industries, transportation, information technology, computer, and the likes as well as establishing air link after lifting of the sanctions.
