Tehran foils US Cyberattack on Iran's oil ministry - Cyber police head

In the last two months, Iranian Cyber Attacks Emergency Center foiled a cyberattack on the countrys oil ministry conducted by hackers from the United States, the head of the Iranian Cyber Police (FATA) said Tuesday.

MOSCOW (Sputnik) Brig. Gen. Seyed Kamal Hadianfar speaking at the International Conference on Cybercrimes in Tehran, said that Iran warned US officials of the incident and issued an international judicial order, Fars News reported Tuesday. The case is currently under control of the countrys foreign ministry.

The FATA discovers and solves 90 percent of Internet crimes committed against the country's citizens and government institutions, Irans Interior Minister Abdolreza Rahmani Fazli said speaking at the same event.

In recent years, Iran repeatedly stated that it had prevented cyberattacks on its ministries conducted from the territory of the United States. Tehran said it prevented an attack on one of the departments of its ministry of culture conducted from the US city of Dallas in December 2012.

In February 2015, US Director of National Intelligence James Clapper named Iran among the leading cyberthreats to the United States.
