Russia reduces duty on imported Iranian goods to 7%

Duty on importing Iranian goods to Russia has been slashed to 7 percent from 27 percent, said Ali Mohammadi, the Iranian consul general in Russia s Astrakhan region.

Considering the U.S. and the EU sanctions on Russia, the country decreased the duty on importing Iranian goods to 7 percent from 27 percent, Iran s Tasnim news agency quoted Mohammadi as saying May 20.

This should be taken as a welcome opportunity to secure a long-term presence in the Russian market, he added.

He went on to say that the two countries are working to remove sea and air transportation problems.

After sanctions were imposed on Russia and new agreements were made between Tehran and Moscow, a great market opened for Iranian exporters and good opportunities were created to boost the two countries mutual trade, Mohammad Lahouti, Vice President of Iran Export Confederation and member of the Tehran Chamber of Commerce told Trend May 3.

Russia was the 18th leading importer of Iranian non-oil goods in the previous Iranian calendar year, which ended on March 20, 2015, according to the Iran Customs Administration.

Iran exported $296.5 million of non-oil goods to Russia and imported $667.18 million of non-oil goods from the country.
