The US Congress should have a say on any nuclear agreement with Iran after the Islamic Republic seized a US cargo vessel, US House Speaker John Boehner said in a press briefing.

WASHINGTON (Sputnik) � On Tuesday, several Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps Navy (IRGCN) patrol vessels approached the US Maersk Tigris cargo ship while it was navigating in the Strait of Hormuz and accused the ship of trespassing.

On April 3, Boehner said that Congress must be allowed to fully review the details of any agreement before any sanctions are lifted, voicing concern about keeping in place anti-Iranian economic sanctions.

�This week, the Iranians fired on and seized a neutral vessel traveling in international waters,� Boehner said on Thursday. �None of this should be taken lightly�We�re getting closer to making sure Congress can review any potential agreement with Iran.�
