Iran Leader: Sanctions reduced reliance on oil dollars

TEHRAN April 29(Shana)--The Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei has said without the sanctions the country would have developed more rapidly in certain areas, however "this was also probable that we might have been relying more on petrodollars and would not have attained such achievements."

Addressing a large gathering of workers and laborers on Wednesday, Ayatollah Khamenei outlined the responsibilities of government officials, organizations and elements regarding domestic production and fighting corruption and smuggling.
"The key to resolving the people's economic troubles, and the working class' issues is not outside [of the country] but it is inside. It is in bolstering and strengthening domestic production," said the leader.

"The working community has endured all hardships and troubles and has unflaggingly endeavored in the path to the country's progress. It has passed all the tests, and officials must value their sacrifices and modesty with more efforts to iron out their issues," said the leader.
The Leader underlined the need to walk the walk, and not merely talk the talk, when it comes to countering corruption.

We need to take action and stop corruption in the true sense of the word, Ayatollah Khamenei underlined.
