Protest rally held in front of UN office in Tehran

Tehran, April 28, IRNA A group of Basiji (volunteer) employees from Tehran's governmental organizations gathered in front of the UN office in Tehran on Tuesday protesting against the criminal acts of the Saudi regime in Yemen.

The demonstrators chanted slogans against the Saudi Arabia, the US and Israel.

Condemning Riyadh's aggression on Yemen, they have also criticized UN's inaction toward Saudi regime's crimes against Yemenis.

Saudi Arabia launched its air campaign against Yemen on March 26 - without a United Nations mandate - in a bid to undermine the Ansarullah movement and to restore power to the countrys fugitive former President Abd Rabbuh Mansur Hadi, a staunch ally of Riyadh.

The air campaign started amid the gains by Yemeni popular committees, backed by Ansarullah Movement, against Al-Qaeda.

On April 21, Riyadh announced the end of the first phase of its military operation, which has left over 4,000 people dead or injured so far, but airstrikes have continued with Saudi bombers targeting different areas across the country in a new phase.
