Iran, Indonesia to activate joint commission

Kuala Lumpur, April 27, IRNA Iran's Ambassador to Indonesia referring to the last week's visit of President Hassan Rouhani to Jakarta and his consultations with President Joko Widodo said that it was a key to development of bilateral ties.

Valiollah Mohammadi Nasrabadi told IRNA that following negotiations between the two presidents, it was decided that Iran-Indonesia joint commission be activated against and hold a session soon.

The 11th meeting of Iran-Indonesia joint commission was held on May 2011 in Tehran.

Minister of Communication and Information Technology Mahmoud Vaezi will lead the Iranian side of the commission.

Nasrabadi expressed hope that efforts to develop ties between Tehran and Jakarta, as a big member of ASEAN, would bear fruits by the end of this year.

Trade volume between Iran and Indonesia in 2013 and 2014 atood at 568 and 430 million dollars respectively.

Iran's export to Indonesia in 2009 amounted to 309 million dollars, which increased to 1.1 billion dollars in 2012. The figure however dropped to 55 million dollars in 2013 due to anti-Iran sanctions.
