Iran, Singapore to expand economic ties

TEHRAN, Apr. 27 (MNA) Iranian first deputy FM has expressed hope that exploring new areas of cooperation would pave the way for Iran and Singapore to further expand economic and trade relations.

Iranian First Deputy Foreign Minister and President Rouhani's Special Envoy Morteza Sarmadi, while pointing to the existing potential for cooperation between Iran and Singapore, expressed hope that it would pave the way for the two countries to further develop economic and trade ties.

Sarmadi made the remarks in a meeting with Albert Chua, Deputy Secretary for Asia-Pacific and International Organizations at the Ministry for Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Singapore.

Pointing to Association of Southeast Asia Nation (ASEAN) as a successful regional organization, Iranian diplomat emphasized Iran's interest in further interaction with the organization.

Albert Chua, for his part, reiterated that Iranian civilization has its roots in ancient history to which Singapore attaches great respect and value.

He expressed satisfaction over general process of nuclear negotiations ongoing between Iran and 5+1, saying thattrade and economic relations between the two countries have returned to their former status which provided the ground for the presence of large and small commercial companies in Iran and Singapore.
