Heinonen: Iran to turn into major nuclear power in world

Kuwait city, April 26, IRNA - Former IAEA deputy director Olli Heinonen who had inspected Iran's nuclear facilities for many times in the past said on Sunday that after a final deal is clinched between Iran and G5+1, the country will turn into a major nuclear power in the world.

Delivering a speech in a seminar on 'Opportunities and Threats under Geopoliticcal Changes in the Region' he said IAEA inspectors have inspected Iran's nuclear facilities for many times .

'I believe that Iran that has held nuclear talks with the US and its allies, can turn into a major nuclear power in the world,' he said.

Referring to Swiss Statement, he said the US and its allies have recognized Iran's rights to enrichment of uranium and the country's nuclear cycle fuel will be kept.

The Islamic Republic of Iran with reliance on its brilliant management and resistance against economic sanctions can preserve its nuclear capabilities and as one member of Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) can make use of peaceful nuclear energy, he said.

A number of experts along with IAEA officials took part in the conference in Kuwait.
