Iran, Vietnam presidents meet in Jakarta
TEHRAN (Tasnim) Iranian President Hassan Rouhani discussed issues of mutual interest with his Vietnamese counterpart Truong Tan Sang on Thursday in the Indonesian capital of Jakarta.

On the sidelines of the ongoing Asia-Africa Conference in Indonesia, Rouhani held a meeting with the president of Vietnam, during which he expressed Tehran's willingness to expand its ties with Hanoi.

"Tehran is ready to expand its cultural and economic relations with Hanoi," Rouhani said, urging that the level of bilateral ties should be upgraded.

Tan Sang, for his part, highlighted the expansion of Hanoi-Tehran ties as significant, adding that Hanoi should take big steps to promote its economic cooperation with Tehran.

During the meeting, the Vietnamese president invited Rouhani to pay an official visit to Hanoi.

The Iranian president also held a meeting with the Prime Minister of Bangladesh Sheikh Hasina, during which the two sides highlighted the numerous capacities for Tehran-Daka mutual cooperation, particularly in economic fields.

Earlier on Thursday and Wednesday, Rouhani had also met with Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe, Chinese President Xi Jinping, and Indonesian President Joko Widodo.
