Iran petchem reeling from 10-year slowdown

TEHRAN April 22(Shana)--A deputy head of National Petrochemical Company (NPC) has said that Irans petrochemical industry has experienced 10 years of sluggish activity.

Over the past 10 years, establishment of the necessary infrastructure for investment in the petrochemical industry has been slow, Mohammad-Hassan Peyvandi said.
He said that the government and the private sector are currently working together to prepare the necessary infrastructure, regardless of sanctions and restrictions.

Peyvandi said the infrastructure for investment has to be created now as sanctions are widely expected to be lifted on Iran.
Huge oil and gas reservoirs in Iran and proximity to high seas are among the most important attractions for [potential] investors, he said.

Peyvandi said Persian Gulf and Sea of Oman coasts are appropriate for petrochemical projects.
