World’s oil giants willing to resume activities in Iran

TEHRAN (ISNA)- The world’s giant oil companies have expressed their willingness to enter the Iranian oil industry one after another on the verge of the expected nuclear deal between Iran and G5+1, and the landscape of lifting sanctions on Iran.

Eni, largest Italian oil company, has expressed willingness to return to Iran after lifting sanctions. Possible changes in Iranian oil deals which guarantee share of producing companies could pave the way for the company’s return to Iran.

Eni's Chief Executive Claudio Descalzi has already said, “Our return to Iran will be faster in this case (after lifting sanctions).”

CEO of French oil giant Total Patrick Pouyanne has said that the company would investigate development of gas fields in Iran after easing the sanctions.

So far, Total, Lukoil, Shell and Chinese oil giants have called for resuming their activities in Iran.

“Iran owns the world’s largest gas reserves after Russia and we will examine return to Iran as soon as sanctions are lifted.”
