The director of the Environment Protection Organization has said that Iran and Afghanistan should establish closer environmental cooperation.
In a meeting with visiting Afghan President Ashraf Ghani Sunday, Masoumeh Ebtekar said that such collaboration should mainly focus on the revival of Hamoon Lagoon to soften the impact its degradation leaves on the environment and peoples lives.She further said that Iran is ready to work with Afghanistan to jointly solve the issue of dust storms which has taken a toll on the two neighboring countries.
Ebtekar added Tehran also stands ready to work for international environmental issues, among them climate change, forest protection and waste management.
