Tehran, April 19, IRNA - Governor of Iran Central Bank Valiollah Seif on Sunday called for fostering regional banking cooperation.
Seif, who is attending the Spring meeting of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank Group in the United States made the remarks in a meeting in presence of his foreign counterparts.
He also stressed the need for creating the credit lines for local currencies aimed at settling trade transactions under supervision of central banks of different countries.
Seif, leading an Iranian delegation including economic officials at the CBI, left Tehran for the US capital, Washington, on April 16 to attend Spring Meetings of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank Group.
The Spring Meetings held in Washington on April 17-19 with the participation of the world economy ministers and central bank governors, while, the IMF-WB autumn meetings are to be held on October 9-11, 2015.
The agenda of the IMF-WB Spring Meetings includes a spectrum of issues, such as diversification of economies that are based on natural resources, provision of homes for low income groups around the globe, the role played by subsidies in world economies, and membership of developing countries in international development funds.
