‘Lithuania can bridge Iran exports to EU’

Chairman ofIran exports to EUcommercial council says Lithuania can serve as a gateway to European markets.

“Lithuanian market can pave the way for the presence of Iranian goods in other European markets,” Mehrdad Motamedi was quoted as saying by ISNA.

The Iranian official described Lithuania as “one of the most important European economies” and said the EU member state is one of the “gateways to the European Union.”

He said talks are underway between Iranian and Turkish trade councils to conclude a trade agreement with Lithuania.

The Republic of Lithuania is situated in Northern Europe. The country is a member of the European Union, the Council of Europe, a full member of the Schengen Agreement and NATO.

Lithuania has been among the fastest growing economies in the European Union.

Back in January 2015, the country adopted the euro as the official currency and became the 19th member of the Eurozone.
