Zanjan, April 11, IRNA - Member of Iran Majlis National Security and Foreign Policy Committee Mohammad Esmaili said on Saturday that the Saudi Arabia's officials should apologize to Iranian government and nation over the disgrace committed against Iranian Hajj pilgrims.
Talking to IRNA, Esmaili underscored that the Saudi Arabia should punish the perpetrators behind the sexual assault on Iranian Hajj pilgrims.
He stressed that the Iranian Parliament is examining a bill to boycott umrah (minor) Hajj pilgrimage in protest at the disgrace and improper conduct of the Saudi police.
'If the Saudi officials do not apologize, the Iranian government and nation and not change their attitude the umrah Hajj pilgrimage will be cancelled,' he added.
The parliamentarian remarked that the Saudi officials usually deal with the umrah pilgrims in inappropriate ways and Saudi has shown that this country does not deserve to manage the pilgrimage places.
Esmaili concluded that Iran's Foreign Ministry also has placed this issue on its working agenda.
Iran lodged complaint with the Saudi government against the policemen involved in sexual harassment of two Iranian young boys at Jeddah airport.
Iranian Consulate-General in Jeddah said the Saudi government has forwarded the complaint to the Court of Justice.
