Kashan, Isfahan Prov., April 11, IRNA - More than 20,000 Iranians, many of them civilians, have been killed by MKO in different acts of terrorism including bombings in public places and targeted killings, a senior commander said on Saturday.
Army commander Brigadier General Hassan Seifi added that 230 military staff are among those assassinated by the MKO.
Speaking at a local ceremony in Kashan, he added that 219 thousand people have been martyred in Iran since 1953.
The official said also that 3100 people were martyred in their fight against Pahlavi regime.
One-eighth of martyrs are women, one-fifth are clergymen and one-tenth of all martyrs have been killed as the result of targeted assassinations, he underscored.
The MKO listed as a terrorist cult by majority of the international community fled Iran in 1986 for Iraq and was given a camp by deposed Iraqi dictator Saddam. It fought on the side of Saddam during the Iraqi imposed war on Iran (1980-88). It's militia were also involved in the bloody repression of Shiite Muslims in southern Iraq in 1991 and the massacre of Iraqi Kurds in the north.
The notorious group is also responsible for killing thousands of Iranian civilians and officials after the victory of the Islamic Revolution in 1979.
