A senior Iranian commander says the countrys Armed Forces will give a crushing response to groups carrying out acts of terror along theborders.
Our countrys Armed Forces have greatreadiness and capability and will give a crushing response to groups that commit blind acts along Irans borders, particularly in southeastern border areas, Commander of the Iranian Armys Ground Forces Brigadier General Ahmad Reza Pourdastan said on Friday.
He added that terrorist and Takfiri groups are not considered as a military threat to a powerful country like Iran.
The commander promised that all terrorist and Takfiri groups that carry out acts of terror in the countrys border areas would be dismantled in the near future.
Pourdastan emphasized that forces of the Iranian Army and the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) closely monitor all the enemies moves against the country and are prepared to counter any threat from land, air and sea.
The commanders remarks came after terrorists killed two signal officers working for the IRGC near the southeastern border with Pakistan.
A local official confirmed Thursday that the two officers were killed as they were returning from work in the mountainous areas of the Mehrestan, a city located at the southernmost partof the southeastern province of Sistan andBaluchestan.
Meanwhile, eight border guards were killed by terrorists in Sistan andBaluchestan near the border with Pakistan on April 6.
The eight were killed in a border area in the town of Negur when clashes broke out with terrorists who had entered Iran via the Pakistani border.
Sistan andBaluchestan Province has seen similar raidsby terrorists who launch hit-and-run attacks and flee to neighboring Pakistan. Iran has repeatedly criticized its eastern neighbor for failing to rein in the terrorists.
