TEHRAN (FNA)- Head of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI) Ali Akbar Salehi announced the country's plans to further improve its capabilities in laser technology with applications in industrial, agricultural and medical areas.

"We have made achievements in the field of laser and will further develop them," Salehi said, addressing a ceremony in Tehran on Thursday to mark the National Nuclear Technology Day.

He also said that Iran has been witnessing new achievements in the field of its peaceful nuclear activities each year.

Iran has started celebrating its nuclear technology day since nine years ago, said the AEOI chief adding since then the country has been witnessing new achievements in its peaceful nuclear sector every year.

Salehi added that remarkable achievements were unveiled by President Hassan Rouhani during this year's Nuclear Technology Day ceremony, including three radioisotopes and the country's first-ever indigenous virtual fuel complex.

Addressing the same ceremony today, Rouhani said that the real triumph of the Iranian people in the nuclear talks with the Group 5+1 (the US, Russia, China, Britain and France plus Germany) was resisting against pressures, sanctions and excessive demands.

"What was achieved in the nuclear talks is not that a statement was issued," Rouhani said, adding that the true achievement of the talks during the past 15 and 16 months is what was mentioned by the US president openly.

"He said," Rouhani added, "We have come to the conclusion that the Iranian nation will never surrender to pressure, sanction and excessive demands."

The president believed that was "a great victory for the Iranian people that world's biggest military and economic power admits Iran's resistance to pressure".

"The US president has announced and admitted that Iran's political system cannot be overthrown and that the nature of Iran's establishment which is a religious democratic system cannot be changed," he added.

During the ceremony, Rouhani also unveiled Iran's latest nuclear achievements, including three radioisotopes that are among the country's peaceful nuclear achievements over the past year.

He also unveiled the country's first-ever indigenous virtual fuel complex, as well as an environmental product.

An exhibition of Iran's peaceful nuclear achievements was also held on the sidelines of the ceremony.

President Rouhani paid a visit to the exhibition before entering the hall where the ceremony was underway.

The National Nuclear Technology Day ceremony was attended by Salehi, Intelligence Minister Mahmoud Alavi, a number of Tehran-based foreign ambassadors, Chairman of the parliament's National Security and Foreign Policy Commission Alaeddin Boroujerdi, nuclear experts and a number of other Iranian officials.

Foreign Ministry Deputies Abbas Araqchi and Majid Takht Ravanchi, Minister of Communication and Information Technology Mahmoud Vaezi, Energy Minister Hamid Chitchian and Parliament Vice-Speaker Mohammad Hassan Aboutorabi Fard were also among the participants.

Iran and the G5+1 started their new round of talks in Lausanne, Switzerland, on March 26 to narrow their differences over Tehran's nuclear energy program ahead of a July 1 deadline.

After nine days of hard work, the seven nations reached an understanding last Thursday which laid the ground for them to start drafting the final nuclear deal.
