Parl. speaker urges Jeddah airport event ‘addressed seriously’

QOM, Apr. 09 (MNA) – Iran’s Parliament speaker who visits the central city of Qom as his constituency has urged the officials to address the sexual harassment case in Jeddah airport.

Ali Larijani who was addressing the provincial administrative session of Qom on Thursday, said that ‘the despicable act of sexual harassment by Saudi airport security agents of two Iranian young Hajj pilgrims’ was quite disturbing for the nation; “the event should be seriously addressed through diplomatic channels; last night, in a session of Hajj and Pilgrimage organization officials, a report of measures so far was presented which was quite satisfactory and indicated that officials acted on time,” Larijani told the meeting.

“Hajj and Pilgrimage Organization as well as Foreign Ministry should seriously address the issue; inaction in such a case would not be rewarding,” he was quoted by Mehr News provincial correspondent as saying.

Larijani also congratulated the provincial authorities for the Iranian New Year and expressed hope that the new Iranian year (beginning March 21 2015) would be a year of economic boom for the province more than ever; “this will only be possible by good offices of government officials who should work to bring the investment to the province,” he added.

On nuclear negotiations, Larijani said that he hoped nuclear negotiations would be effective in solving economic hardships and the nation would hear ‘good news’ in the upcoming months.
