At least five civilians have been killed and several others injured in a car bomb attack carried out by foreign-sponsored militants in Syria�s northwestern province of Hama.

A military source, speaking on condition of anonymity, said the blast took place near Nahr al-Bared village, located more than 250 kilometers (155 miles) north of the capital, Damascus, on Wednesday, Syria�s official SANA news agency reported.

The source added that the force of the explosion damaged a garage, where a number of cars belonging to the village�s municipality were parked.

The development came only hours after at least 32 people lost their lives in two ISIL car bomb attacks against the positions of rival militant groups in Syria�s Aleppo Province.

According to the so-called Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, one attack targeted a militant base in the village of Hawar Kilis, near the Turkish border, late on Tuesday, killing at least 23 terrorists.

The second explosion hit a joint militant office in the town of Marea and killed nine people, including three local commanders.

The slain commanders were reportedly from Jabhat Shamiya and Jaish al-Mujahideen militant groups as well as the al-Qaeda-linked al-Nusra Front terrorist network.

Syria has been grappling with a deadly crisis since March 2011. The violence fueled by Takfiri groups has so far claimed the lives of over 215,000 people, according to reports.

New figures show that over 76,000 people, including thousands of children, lost their lives in Syria last year.

Over 3.8 million Syrians have left their country since the beginning of the crisis. More than 7.2 million Syrians have also become internally displaced, according to the United Nations.
