Lebanese PM welcomes signing of Lausanne statement

Beirut, April 8, IRNA Lebanese Prime Minister Tamam Salam on Wednesday congratulated the signing of Lausanne nuclear statement between Iran and the western governments.




He made the remarks in a meeting with Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Morteza Sarmadi.

Salam said that the framework deal on the nuclear dispute showed that finding political and peaceful settlements to all disputes and crises is possible.

Referring to the deep and significant relations between Iran and Lebanon, Tamam Salam said that the Islamic Republic of Iran is a strong and influential country in the region and the other countries need its assistance to support the international peace and security.

The Iranian deputy foreign minister had before this meeting paid tribute to the Lebanese martyrs and held talks with the Lebanese Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri and the Lebanese Foreign Minister Jubran Basil.

President Rouhani's Special Envoy Sarmadi on the fifth leg of his regional tour arrived in Lebanese capital city, Beirut on Wednesday morning.

Sarmadi is also scheduled to meet some other top Lebanese state, partisan, and religious officials during his two-day visit.

Sarmadi had in his regional tour as President Rouhani's special envoy visited Iraq, Algeria and Oman before Lebanon.
