Iran to complete 12 petrochemical projects by March 2016

TEHRAN, Apr. 08 (MNA) ��Iran's Deputy Oil Minister has announced the construction of 12 petrochemical projects and a 14mn ton increase in petrochemical production during the current Iranian year (ending on March 19, 2016).

Abbas Sheri-moghaddam noted that the construction of 12 petrochemical complexes in various provinces would be completed and come into operation during the current Iranian year which ends on March 19, 2016.

The National Petrochemical Company (NPC) Managing Director added that the projects include phase 2 of Kavian Petrochemical�plant, as well as other petrochemical�complexes in Marvdasht (Shiraz), Lorestan, Kurdistan, Mahabad, Hegmataneh, Karoon, Dalahoo, phase 3 of Pardis Petrochemical�plant, Takht-E�Jamshid Petrochemical�Company, a polystyrene complex, and the development project of Morvarid Petrochemical�plant.

He deemed Kavian Petrochemical�plant the world�s largest ethylene producing unit, adding �phase 2 of this massive complex will come into production this year and with that the total production capacity of the complex will exceed 2 million tons per year.�

Stressing that with the operation of these 12 projects, the country�s petrochemical production capacity will increase up to 6 million ton, Sheri-Moghaddam maintained that the country�s production of petrochemicals and polymeric products will reach more than 66 million tons by mid-March, 2016.

According to him, Iran produced more than 44.4 million petrochemical and polymeric products last year.
