TEHRAN (FNA)- A senior official from Russia's Astrakhan Oblast called for the reinvigoration of economic cooperation with the Northern Iranian province of Mazandaran.

Governor General of Astrakhan Alexander Jiklin, in a message to his counterpart from Mazandaran on Saturday on the occasion of the Iranian new year, stressed readiness to do his best to pave the ground for the further promotion of all-out relations.


Last year, over 2,000 Russian tourists from Astrakhan visited Sari, the capital of Mazandaran.


Over the last several years, Iran and Russia have had vast cooperation in different fields, specially in political and economic spheres.


The two states also enjoy special positions on the international scene and have long had constant and regular consultations on key regional and global issues.
