Wang Qun, Director-General of the Arms Control Department of China's Foreign Ministry, said that China is putting in "all efforts" to make progress on a lasting nuclear deal with Tehran.
LAUSANNE (Sputnik) Chinese negotiators atthe ongoing Iran nuclear talks inthe Swiss city ofLausanne are putting in "all our efforts" tomake progress ona lasting nuclear deal withTehran, the country's chief negotiator told Sputnik onSaturday.
"Throughout the process we are contributing, and we put [in] all our efforts," Wang Qun, Director-General ofthe Arms Control Department ofChina's Foreign Ministry, said answering Sputnik's question.
Qun stressed that China has been actively seeking tosettle differences that are inthe way ofa framework accord. The sides have untilMarch 31 todraft a political deal beforethey proceed tofinalize a comprehensive agreement byJuly 2015.
Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi is coming toLausanne overthe weekend, Qun added.
"This roundof process China has been very forthcoming bycoming upwith a series ofproposals tohelp tobridge the gaps even atthis last stage. And this is the purpose ofmy minister's coming here," Qun told journalists.
Iran has been increasingly underpressure fromthe six major world powers China, Russia, France, Britain, the United States and Germany toprove that its controversial nuclear research is forpurely peaceful purposes.
