Imposing any new sanctions on Iran would be against the Geneva interim agreement, said the chairman of the Majlis National Security and Foreign Policy Committee.
The US Congress has threatened to impose a new round of sanctions against Iran unless nuclear negotiations bring about a framework agreement by the March 24 deadline set by US senators.
Underling the importance of the current round of nuclear talks in the Swiss city of Lausanne, Alaeddin Boroujerdi told ISNA that striking a deal is highly probable. However, there are still serious obstacles in the way (of reaching an agreement) and the opponents are highly active.
Given the high volume of sanctions approved so far, only once the negotiating sides reach agreement on annulling the sanctions all at once, it can be said that they have reached a deal on the details and generalities, he noted.
