I am afraid that when it comes tothe Iranian issue, we have tomake clear decisions inJerusalem, Liberman said.
The minister noted that the safety ofIsraeli citizens does not lay withthe US president or the US Congress.
Our immediate government duty is todo everything possible tomake everyone feel safe, he told Sputnik.
Addressing Israels relations withthe United States, Liberman admitted that the personal relationship betweenUS President Barack Obama and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is not the best, not the most trustful."However, relations betweenthe countries themselves are strong and stable, because they are based onbroad cooperation inthe areas ofsafety, reconnaissance, economy, science, and because ofa large Jewish community. I do not expect the basis ofour relations tosuffer. This should not be dramatized, he said.
The Israeli leader has repeatedly lashed outagainst the ongoing efforts bythe United States toreach a nuclear deal withIran.
As part ofthe P5+1 group ofmajor powers, which includes Russia, China, France, the United Kingdom and Germany, the United States seeks toreach a comprehensive deal withIran that would guarantee the peaceful nature ofits nuclear program.
Netanyahu has argued, however, that the emerging deal would have the oppositeeffect and enable Iran toproduce a nuclear bomb.Irans nuclear activities have long been a point ofconcern forthe international community, withseveral states suspecting that Tehran may be using its civilian nuclear program asa cover fordeveloping weapons. Iran has repeatedly rejected the claims, stating that its nuclear activities are aimed solely atmeeting the country's energy needs.
