Berlin, March 11, IRNA -- The foreign ministers of Germany, Iran, US,France and Britain are to take stock of the nuclear talks when they meet in Brussels on Monday following an invitation by EU foreign policy chief Federica Mogherini, a German official said.
Talking to media representatives in Berlin on Wednesday, German foreign ministry spokeswoman Sawsan Chebli said the talks would
dwell on assessing the present state of negotiations between Iran and six world powers (US, Russia, China, France, Britain and Germany).
Asked by IRNA about further details of the upcoming Iran meeting, Chebli added the talks would be similar to the recent meeting in
Paris where both sides focused on taking stock of the negotiation process and likely lingering questions.
'We'll pinpoint the areas where we still think we have to work on. We have to take advantage of the remaining weeks before the deadline expires to realize our common goal,' according to Chebli.
She quoted German Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier as saying both sides had never been this close to an agreement since the nuclear talks started.
The German foreign minister calls on all relevant parties in these talks to be aware of their responsibility to finally help reach a deal, she added.
Chebli stressed the need for what she termed 'firm (Iran nuclear) agreement' which would not be questioned by anyone.
Berlin has repeatedly said it was still optimistic that the basic framework of a nuclear deal with Iran could still be met by the end of this month's deadline, provided all sides are ready for what it labeled a 'political compromise'.
