Tehran, March 9, IRNA Brigadier General Hossein Ashtari was appointed as Iran's new police commander.
Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, in his capacity as Commander in Chief as the Iranian Law Enforcement forces, appointed Ashtari to the post on Monday.
He is replacing Esmail Ahmadi Moqaddam who served as police chief for about ten years.
Ashtari used to serve as the first deputy for Moqaddam.
