TEHRAN (FNA)- Danish Foreign Minister Martin Lidegaard in a meeting with Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister for European and American Affairs Majid Takht Ravanchi stressed Iran's important and decisive role in the regional developments.
During the meeting in Copenhagen on Thursday, Lidegaard said various grounds exist for promotion of relations between Iran and Denmark.
Underlining Iran's key role in restoration of peace and stability in the region, he said that Copenhagen supports a diplomatic settlement to the Syrian crisis with the participation of all the influential players and the Syrian sides as well.
The Danish foreign minister also described his recent visit to Iran as successful, and invited his Iranian counterpart Mohammad Javad Zarif to pay a visit to Denmark in the future.
Takht Ravanchi, for his part, referred to Iran-Denmark relations, noting he was satisfied with the increasing cooperation between the two countries.
Referring to abundant potentials for expansion of bilateral relations, the deputy foreign minister said Tehran and Copenhagen should not miss the existing opportunities to give a boost to their bilateral relations.
During his two-day visit to the European country, Takht Ravanchi will also hold talks with the Danish deputy foreign minister for political affairs, the parliament speaker and the chairman of the foreign policy committee.
In September, Iranian and Danish officials discussed ways of boosting all-out relations, and meantime called for a cause-and-effect study on extremism and terrorism to root out the evil phenomenon.
In a meeting between Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister for Consulate, Parliamentary and Expatriate Affairs Hassan Qashqavi and his Danish counterpart Egberg Mikeln in Tehran, the two officials called for enhancement of mutual cooperation, including facilitation of visa issuance for both countries' nationals.
