Tehran, Feb 18, IRNA First Vice President Ishaq Jahangiri arrived in Tehran on Wednesday from his three-day visit to Iraq.
He visited Iraq upon the invitation of Iraqi Prime Minister Heydar al-Ebadi.
During his stay in the country, the Iranian officials met and coffered with a number of grand ulema and ranking Iraqi officials.
He discussed issues like the ways to counter polluting particles, road and air transportation and tourism as well as commercial and exhibition activities with the Iraqi officials.
Jahangiri also signed a number of documents and letters of understanding with Iraqi organizations.
The First Vice-President conferred with Iraqi religious leader Ayatollah Sistani on regional developments and sufferings of the Muslims worldwide.
Jahangiri exchanged views on most important issues about Iran and Iraq.
Various issues such as bolstering unity between Shia and Sunni Muslims, vital need to fight with extremism and deviations were the topics discussed in the meeting, Jahangiri said.
In the meeting with the Iraqi religious scholar Ayatollah Es'haq Fayyaz on Wednesday, he said that Shiite sources of jurisprudence and scholars play a significant role in anti-Daesh campaign in Iraq.
Iran and Iran also signed a memorandum of understanding for cooperation in the field of livestock sanitation and veterinary.
In line with policies for the expansion of bilateral cooperation especially in agriculture sector with regional and neighboring countries, Iraq in particular, Irans Minister of Agriculture Jihad Mahmoud Hojjati and Iraqs Minister of Agriculture Falah Hassan al-Zaidan signed a cooperation agreement in the field of livestock sanitation and veterinary.
In another development during his stay in Iraq, Jahangiri met with Iraqi President Fuad Masum.
The two sides discussed bilateral relations, regional and international issues.
Earlier, Jahangiri met with Prime Minister al-Ebadi.
